A message from your State Assembly President

Hello Everyone.

Finally!

It looks as though the Covid-19 pandemic numbers are slowly starting to reverse and creep downward. However, I still believe, as many do, that we cannot let our guard down. We must continue to wear our masks and social distance.

Your State Assembly has been ever vigilante of the effects of the pandemic on our profession, our safety, our lives and our futures in the new normal. We have been holding virtual Zoom meetings over these months with the sole purpose of returning to the support, growth and education needs of the State of Arizona.

I have been in contact with National on what and when we can move forward. From those conversations we have learned of a few ways we can reach out and offer some education avenues for the state.

Our first priority will be rescheduling the conference that was canceled for April. We are working on the best available date after the first of the year. I believe if the pandemic numbers continue to drop, we should be able to proceed. Please bear in mind the numbers have to be great. I will not put anyone in harm’s way for education. The conference content will be the same as last April, “Forensics in the Operating Room”.

Secondly, I am working with National and the Illinois State Assembly on how to build and present 1 or 2 hour webinars to be found on the Arizona State Assembly website. There is a lot of logistics on uploading, access, purchasing safely and registering the ceu’s. When all the bugs have been worked out, we will send out special notifications on the process to get started. Illinois has been using this type of format for a while and has given me great insight and ideas.

Finally, we are getting ready to launch a new Student Council program. This is a program for any students currently in good standing and enrolled in a Surgical Technology Program to volunteer and serve for 1 year as an intern to the AZSA. It is purely voluntary but gives those that wish an active role in supporting the growth of our profession and membership.

I hope all of you are back to some normalcy at work. That you are all safe and healthy. Again, I am always available to all of you. Please feel free to contact me anytime as needed. If I am scrubbed, please leave a message and I will return your call at the earliest possible moment.
